News: LWPT National Advocate

David Latter has taken on the mantle of National Advocate for LWPT, a historically key role for the organisation. LWPT, an ecumenical charity with roots in the Methodist Church, exists to support preachers.

David spent the majority of his career in HR with Glaxo. More recently he was a Development Manager with Scripture Union. A Methodist Local Preacher for over 30 years, David believes preaching plays a vital role in promoting the good news of Jesus. LWPT is uniquely placed to encourage and resource preachers in the UK, through Preach Magazine and its training events among other initiatives and David looks forward to helping the work grow.

As National Advocate, he will represent LWPT in a range of settings. David says, ‘I am keen to continue the good work of my predecessors and to see growth ecumenically for the Trust. During my time as Advocate I would like to engage more people in recognising the power of preaching and will be exploring opportunities to connect with individuals and groups across the country.’

Amelia Clarke, Director of Operations and Development, says ‘We are delighted and honoured that David has agreed to be our National Advocate. He brings a wealth of experience and is highly regarded in his wide networks. We look forward to working with David to support preachers through our resources, training and grants.’

David is happy to discuss invitations to speak about the work of the charity or preaching in general. You can contact him via lwptoffice@lwpt.org.uk.
